Why This Program Exists
Every growing organization eventually faces the same challenge. High performers are promoted into management because they've proven they can do the work. But leading people requires an entirely different skill set. Without intentional leadership development, new managers often struggle with communication, delegation, accountability, prioritization, and leading former peers. Sphere of Influence® helps managers make that transition with practical tools, behavioral insight, and real-world application, not just leadership theory.
Common Challenges
- Transitioning from individual contributor to leader
- Leading former peers with confidence
- Communicating effectively with different personalities
- Prioritizing leadership responsibilities instead of simply staying busy
- Delegating instead of doing everything themselves
- Running productive meetings and creating accountability
These aren't signs of poor leadership. They're signs that your managers haven't been equipped to lead.

What is Sphere of Influence®?
Sphere of Influence® is a cohort-based leadership development program that combines instructor-led learning, practical application, behavioral assessments, and peer collaboration. Participants don't simply learn leadership concepts, they apply them between sessions and return with real experiences for coaching and discussion
Program Includes
- Six live instructor-led sessions
- Interactive learning with managers from multiple organizations
- Practical leadership tools that can be implemented immediately
- Between-session application assignments
- Behavioral assessments and leadership insights
- Continued development following the live cohort
12-Week Leadership Experience
- Six live sessions (every other week)
- Practical field work between sessions
- Continued follow-up and reinforcement after the cohort concludes
Schedule:
-
September 18: You are a leader now - "My boss says lead, but I’m doing everything I always did and doing it well. What’s supposed to be different?”
-
October 2: Communication across differences - “The way I communicate just clicks with some of my people and falls flat with others. Why does the same approach work so well with some and not the rest?”
-
October 16: From peer to boss - “My old teammates still treat me like one of the gang. How do I earn respect and create accountability now that I'm in charge?”
-
October 30: How leaders spend their time - “I'm slammed from the minute I walk in, just reacting all day. When am I supposed to plan, and why do I keep falling behind?”
-
November 13: Getting work done through others - “It’s faster to do it myself. So why am I drowning, and why does my boss keep saying to delegate?”
-
December 4: Meetings and sharing information - “My people miss things I know I told them, and my meetings drag. How do I keep them in the loop?”
By the end of this cohort, participants will be able to:
- Lead with confidence instead of simply being the person who gets the work done.
- Adjust their communication to connect with different personalities and work styles.
- Earn trust and credibility while making the transition from peer to manager.
- Spend more time leading and less time reacting to daily demands.
- Delegate work in ways that develop employees and improve accountability.
- Run meetings and communicate clearly so expectations don't get lost.
- Build a stronger, more engaged team that performs without depending on the manager for every answer.

Testimonials
Accounting Manager - Recent SOI Graduate
“I had not realized this prior to taking this course. I spoke with my direct reports every day when they needed me, but I was mostly fulfilling their request for an answer and not making sure they were a part of the solution. Now I am asking more questions to open the floor to have them suggest ways to solve their own issues.”
Senior Project Manager - Recent SOI Graduate
“The combination of leadership concepts with practical exercises made the program valuable. I especially appreciated learning about (topics) and applying the concepts between sessions. The instructors created a positive environment where participants could share experiences and learn from one another. I also appreciated that the program emphasized skills that can be used immediately in both leadership and everyday interactions.”

What if I miss a session?
We understand that life happens and unexpected conflicts can arise. We encourage participants to prioritize attending every session, as Sphere of Influence is designed as a cohort experience where each person's participation benefits the entire group.
If you miss a session, we'll provide available resources to help you catch up, and we encourage you to connect with your fellow participants so you're ready to fully engage at the next session.
Because of the cohort-based nature of the program, we cannot offer refunds, credits, or transfers for missed sessions, and individual sessions may not be transferred to another participant.
